Step 1: Determine your skin undertone

Your skin undertone is the foundation when choosing the right foundation. Look at the characteristics of each undertone and find out which one best suits your skin. This will ultimately determine how natural your foundation will look.

• Cool:
• Pink, red or blue undertones.
• Your veins appear blue.
• Silver jewelry flatters you more.
• Neutral:
• A mix of cool and warm undertones.
• Your veins appear blue AND green.
• Both silver and gold jewelry look good on you.
• Warm:
• Yellow, gold or olive undertones.
• Your veins appear green.
• Gold jewelry flatters you better.

Tip: In natural light, look at your wrist and observe which jewelry looks best on you. This will give you a good idea of your undertone.

We have divided skin tones into five groups, from very light to dark. Below you can read which category suits you best:

• Sun reaction: Burns quickly, barely gets a tan.

• Sun reaction: Sometimes burns, gets a subtle tan.
2. Medium: Average skin tone that tans more easily.
• Characteristics: Dark blond or brown hair and hazel, brown or blue eyes.
• Sun reaction: Gets an even tan quickly, burns less often.
3. Medium/Deep: Deeper skin tone that rarely burns.
• Characteristics: Dark brown or black hair and dark eyes.
• Sun reaction: Gets a deep tan quickly.
4. Deep: Dark skin that almost never burns.
• Characteristics: Black hair and dark eyes.
• Sun reaction: Gets a deeper color without burning.

• Light/Medium: Silk, Linen
• Medium: Sand Beige, Soft Tan
• Medium/Dark: Pie, Riviera
• Deep: Praline 

Warm Shades

• Fair: Golden, Honey
• Light/Medium: Caramel
• Medium: Golden Girl, Sunkiss
• Medium/Dark: Nutmeg, Tiramisu, Almond
• Deep: Rich, Walnut, Butterscotch

• Winter: Choose a shade that is lighter.
